Birthing Pool Installation

New birthing pool installed at Hereford County Hospital
Hurley & Davies were pleased to deliver a project at Hereford County Hospital, which involved the installation of a new birthing pool in the delivery department. The project had a significant impact on two delivery suites and caused disruption to the floor below due to the complexity of installing the necessary waste system infrastructure.
Our project managers are familiar with Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), which are a series of guidance documents issued by the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the NHS Estates team. These documents provide technical advice, best practices, and standards for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of healthcare buildings and facilities, ensuring they meet safety, hygiene, and functional standards. Consideration was given to water sources, drainage, lighting, ventilation, flooring, safety requirements, as well as structural load and soundproofing.
With careful planning and input from the clinical team, the contractors adapted a programme to minimise disruption and collaborated to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
